What Causes Fever, High Heart Rate And Redness On The Face?
Question: Hello. I am running a fever of 100.7 and laying resting heart rate of 115. My face is also red. When I stand my heart rate rises to over 130. My fever reached 102 and I took 325 mg Tylenol approximately 2 hours ago. One week ago I had balloon rhinoplasty. I am a 55 yr old female with a history of heart disease and stent placement. My blood pressure this evening is averaging 133/79. Could you please advise as to what I should do. Thank you.

Initial blood work up may also be required like complete blood count and blood cultures as well as local cultures from site of procedure or from nasal or throat swabs.
A prophylactic antibiotic course with augmentin or azithromycin can also be started and them. extending the coverage to more broader spectrum of bacterial control. Meanwhile continue OTC analgesics or anti pyretics like acetaminophen can be used.
Pulse rise can occur with fever but an EKG to look for any abnormal cardiac rythm should be preformed. Post procedure such fever spikes with such symptoms should also necessitate to perform an Echo and keep infective endocarditis in list of diseases to be excluded.
