Question: My daughter is 8 months old. she is running fever for past 3 days. the local doctor checked her and found no other complexities like cough or vomiting. food and milk intake is also normal. urination and motion as also normal. doctor asked to give 1 ml crocin drops for every 6 hrs. we are following it for past 3 days. throughout this 3 days, she had been having mild to medium fever(99 to 104 deg F). Hi
Thanks for writing to healthcare magic.
Fever is body's response to any infection, by raising the temperature body tries to kill the viruses or bacteria.
Usually if the child is active and no focus is found on examination as in your daughters case, the fever is typically viral fever . Viral fever may last for 3 to 5 days.
If the baby is otherwise active, continue crocin drops as before.
But if fever persisits for 2 more days, you need to test blood and urine for bacterial infection.
Usually extremities are cold and center of body becomes hot, that is how fever occurs in kids because the blood supply is diverted to the center.
Ensure baby takes atleast liquid feeds well and passes urine atleast 6 times a day.
Wishing your kid speedy recovery.
