What Causes Fever, Rashes On The Body And Vomiting In A Child?

Question: Hello, my 2-1/2 yr old grandson has had a low grade temp off and on for about a week. He was staying for an after Christmas visit. Friday night she sent pics of this strange rash. It looked pretty bad, but low grade temp she didn't take him to a Dr. that day. The next morning she called telling me he had been throwing up and running temp still...AND rash wasn't getting better. We went and got him that morning and we were in shock, he looked so pitiful....HORRIBLE rash covering his neck, chest, stomach, back, and a lighter rash on arms legs feet took him to ER they ran multiple blood test, urine, chest xray, flu, strep.....EVERYTHING was normal...CRAZY They put him on steroids, benadryl, and it helped. So they sent him home with a prescription of the two meds that were working. As his rash fades though, there are some smooth looking areas that looked bruised? Is this normal? rash fading and looking bruised druing the process? Im just worried!
Oh, one more important detail, he was at his other Grandmothers for a visit. Not mine. BAD typo on my part...I would have had him in the doctors office a long time before it got as bad as it is.

Detailed Answer:
Hello. I just read through your question.
Sounds like a rough time time for your grandson. Fortunately we have all of those negative tests to reassure us that nothing truly howlrrible was going on. The best educated guess here is that it was a bad allergic reaction to something.
The bruising marks you are seeing as the rash is fading is typical. However, with time, perhaps a few weeks, those marks should fade as well. Your grandson is no doubt under the care of a physician for this so the doctor will be able to follow the progress .

No more questions, Thank you! So many doctors cut you off when you are trying to tell them EVERYTHING you can think of to help. BUT so many are RUDE and will not let you tell them EVERY single little thing that you think is important to the problem. I was hoping that was what you would tell me. Keep on like we're keeping on! Thank you for easing my mind a little, I just lIove this little man so much! If you have children, or grandchildren, I am sure you know the exact feeling I am talking about. Ty again!!!!
