What Causes Fever, Red Bumps On Chest And White Patches In Throat?
Likely to be viral Exanthema. Monospot test and specific Abs for Mono
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection can lead to Infectious Mononucleosis. It is contagious and can spreads from person to person. Symptoms include fever, Lymphadenopathy i.e swollen lymph nodes, sore throat and spleen enlargement. Heterophile antibody test and specific EBV antibody tests can be done to be more sure about the diagnosis. The rash you described could be due to a viral exanthema and may subside on its own requiring symptomatic treatment only. A physical exam would be required to look for evident focus of infection. A CBC and ESR can also be advised to look for a significantly raised TLC. Patients with Mono need to have avoid vigorous physical activity to avoid rupture of the spleen which is a possibility/risk with the spleen being enlarged. Plenty of fluids should be taken. If there is significant swelling in the neck and throat then corticosteroids can be prescribed for a short course. There is no specific drug that can treat Mono.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
