What Causes Fever, Sore Throat And Rashes Over Face And Limbs?
Question: Hi ,
4 days ago I stated developing a soar throat, during the first night I had a fever which broke by morning. The throat got worse the next day and the day after I have developed spots on my fingers some of which are starting to look like small blisters and today I have noticed a couple of similar spots on my forehead. My son was diagnosed with Flu B a week ago but did not show any spots. My question is how likely is it I have caught this flu or could it be something else?

Brief Answer:
Fever with rash ?viral fever.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Fever,sore-throat and rashes over face and limbs (fingers-vesicular) goes over a period of 4-5 days more in favor of viral fever( viral exanthems -to name a few-Echoviruses ,; coxsackieviruses).
Vesiculobullous eruption may also occur with Varicella (adult chickenpox) infection.
Viral infection can spread amongst family members but each case is to be judged individually, since your son recovered from flu without developing any rash.
Alternatively Rickettsial spotted fevers is a possibility.
