What Causes Fever With White Nasal Discharge?

Question: Hi Doctor,
I am suffering from a slight fewer and white liquid comes out of my nose (right one) i feel it like opened. I cant even sleep. If i kept i idle it will start flowing down and my throat is soreing a bit. Is this normal whether change issue or something to get it checked.
This started after I raomed a lot and ate around different places in the weekend.

Please assist me with the next steps...

Thanks for asking HCM,
I have gone through your query,
Is it white liquid or transparent watery liquid which is sticky??
A lot depends on it.

The basic thing is that due to viral infection the nasal secretions would increase and so the sinus secretions. The fever could also be because of the infection.
This fluid will fall in the throat and cause soreness in throat.

If its watery then there is more of allergic part , but if whitish then it has bacterial infection causing it.

You need to take antibiotic (like amoxycillin with clavulinic acid or roxithromycin or levofloxacin) for both. But for the whitish discharge you need to take antibiotic for few more days and take extra care and need to have regular followup with your doctor.
I usually advice CT scan if the fluid is whitish , to know the extent of infection in the sinuses and then start the medicines accordingly.

In addition i advice to my patients--
Decongestant tablets like phenylephrine
decongestant nasal drops like xylometazoline
antihistaminic like loratidine, ebastine, cetrizine
normal saline nasal sprays
Anti pyretics for fever as required -paracetamol or crocin which you took
anti inflammtory enzymes like serratiopeptidase, chymotrypsin etc
and mucolytic like ambroxol.

You should consult an ENT specialist and discuss and get medicines.

Just to confirm, The liquid is more watery. So this is some kind of allergy right.
Can you give some quick medicine I can take before I get in touch with my doctor.

Hello,
I advice to my patients like tablet Ebast DC, or Tab. Alerid DC or Allrite DC,
one tablet two times a day. And Tab. Mucinac 600 Once daily. This is for to decrease the secretion and give relief from congestion.

These are prescription only medicines. You should take the medicine after consultation and also antibiotics after consultation .

Hi,

Thanks for your advise. I could not reach out to doctor because of schedule issues.
Now I am fine no cold or throat issue, but still i have issue with nose (Stinus) will get blocked every other time but no throat ach or any effect to throat.
Liquid from nose has reduced also.

Is this some problem or is it fine i meet doctor day after.
