What Causes Flank Pain While Lifting Heavy Objects?
Instead of going to a sports doctor I first went to a chiropractor who made things worst
subsequent test by my GP revealed inflammation, anemia, heightened markers for my kidney
The flank pain is horrible. I take hot showers, Tylenol 1, heating pad and cold compresses
any suggestions?
Stop naproxen
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query
From the history you have furnished it looks like you are having spasm of the muscles however just to be sure I would like a few more details from you
1. Did you run any temperature after this incident ?
2. is the area tender to touch ?
3. is the pain dull aching or sharp?
4. does it pain more when you move or bend ?
I request you to not take naproxen until you get your renal function test done as it is a nephrotoxic agent.
The best pain killers for you would be
1. tylenol if the pain is mild
2. tramadol for severe pain
3. local diclofenac gel
4. hot followed by cold compress three times a day
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
Regards

The pain is not of renal origin
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for getting back with the details. The pain you are describing is not of renal origin, which is typically localized to the flank region. The pain you are currently having is more of spinal origin, which is why it worsened / did not improve with the chiropractor.
Here is what you should do
1. Do not lift heavy weights or exercise until you see a doctor
2. Cold compress the area, warm compression is not required
3. Please see a doctor and get a ct of the lumbosacral spine done as soon as possible to rule out prolapse of the disc
I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
