Brief Answer:
No, it is unlikely.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
I have noted your symptoms. Flashing coloured lights in periphery of one eye is not a sign of TIA.
However, lack of vision in one eye, or one half of each eye could be a sign of transient ischemic attack.
Good to know that you improved.
I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.
Wishing you good health,

not a question....for your information, the flashing lights look like a single strand necklace of little diamonds, whose facets seem to be flashing colors---but when I try to look directly at them I am unable to, so I cannot be certain if there actually are colors----the strand is not in a straight line, but is bent, or curled a little---I am glad to know I am not having precursors to an actual stroke ! I can sense it coming on when I notice my straight ahead vision becoming blurred, followed by a slight sensation of ill-ease----If possible I immediately look for a place to lie down, which helps it to go away sooner

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back and providing more information.
You may see a retina specialist (ophthalmologist) to rule out any disease of retina, which can sometimes cause similar symptoms.
