What Causes Forgetfulness And Confusion While Having Neurofibromatosis?

Question: My aunt is 77 old. She has Neurofibromatosis since she was a kid yet with no effect on her systems. At this age her nerves are becoming weak so that she falls down with no control. She started to forget and sonetimes confuse history with present since a year or two. Now her leg hinge is broken and since she was admitted to hospital, her illogic talks increased... she does not recognize she is not home.. then gets corrected then forgets again and so on. The doctors said this is in many cases normal that old ppl get a sort of rejection or resistance to being hospitalized so that their subconscious takes a lead to misguide them. His opinion is that we do not correct her non-sense talks except for basics like the time ( to maintain the biological clock) and only very important data... yet we should not keep on correcting each non- important issues like where she is, who visited her and who did not.. etc. to avoid upsetting her that she is totally insane. Is this correct?
