Question: My almost 6 month old has been pooping 2-3 times after every bottle for the past 3 days. Its small amounts and its not liquidy like diarrhea. It does look mucousy though. She has no other symptoms and no change in diet. She is acting fine. What could be the cause?

Brief Answer: viral infection Detailed Answer: Hi, The symptoms you describe go for a viral infection of the intestine, probably rotavirus. Fortunately she has no cramps, and no watery diarrhea, only mucousy and more frequent pooping. You should continue the usual diet, also you can add a probiotic to the diet of the child for a week. If the child will have temperature, frequent looses of feces, cramps , than you should consult the local doctor. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any further quiery, Regards, Dr. Sonila Borici
