Hello doctor..she s getting fever from past 2 months..her birth weight was 2.47..n her current weight s 9.23..she s on normal diet.we give her rice veggies fruits..idli dosa..etc..there r no particular symptoms as such..there s no history of hospitalization..

Thanks for your reply.
There is no need to worry. You may give the following treatment:
1. Give acetaminophen for fever spikes and repeat the dose after 6-8 hours if fever spikes persist. In case, fever doesn't respond at all to proper dose of acetaminophen, then Syp. Meftal-p ( mefenamic acid) may be used as second line drug for fever.
2. Give water sponging to bring faster relief from fever spikes.
3. Start her on antihistamine such as Syp.Maxtra or T minic for relieving throat congestion.
4. Go for a throat swab culture and sensitivity test if throat infections seems severe before any antibiotic therapy. This is to check for streptococcal infection which needs a full course of antibiotics to treat present infection and avoid rheumatic fever later.

5. Use room humidifier while sleeping if the weather is dry.
6. Ensure regular feeds and lots of fluids to prevent dehydration and weakness.
