What Causes Frequent Incomplete Bowel Movement And Thin Stool?

Posted on Fri, 4 Sep 2015
Question: I have an appt with dr at end of September but hoping you can give some suggestions as to what my problem is and what I can do till then
Haven't had a 'normal' BM more than a couple of times in about six weeks. They are narrow ..... Sometimes pencil like No bleeding just don't feel emptied most of the time. I often will have to go several times in a row sometimes with urgency and even if I have a small BM it takes a lot to get wiped clean. But the last week or so I'm having more pressure under left rib and a feeling like when I had endometriosis . Not sure if it has to do with thyroid meds (PTC) first TSH was too low. .01 then in two months time it went up to 5.87 after lowering synthroid to 100 mcg (was 125 mcg). Any ideas what this is and what I can do till I see the dr. I'm going on a trip in a couple weeks and don't want to feel like this.

Hello

Thanks for the query

I have read your query and in order to come to a better conclusion I need a few more details from you

1. Do you feel the urgency to pass stools right after eating food?
2. Do you have pain in the abdomen when this happens?
3. The pain under the left rib, what type of pain is it? Is it dull, sharp, pricking? Is it present through out the day?

Please get back to me, I am awaiting your reply

Yes more after eating
Not always pain in abdomen but definitely a pressure fullness feeling even when not going to the bathroom
The rib discomfort is pretty constant sometimes prickly but more like something trapped or full feeling. For while thought it was scar tissue from thorasic surgery years ago
Not knowing if I should eat fiber or stick to more bland don't do much dairy or bread

Colitis. Do you think aspirin or alive would help the inflammation I'm not one for drugs but if it may help

Brief Answer:
Gastro enteritis

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for getting back, here is what you should do

1. The pain below the left rib is most likely to be gastritis. I recommend Tab Omeprazole 20 mg once a day before breakfast for a week
2. You need to be on probiotics like Tab Sporoloac two tablets three times a day for a week. This will replace your Gut bacteria with good bacteria
3. Follow a bland diet, dont eat anything spicy. It should be high fiber filled with fresh fuits and vegetables
4. Avoid milk and milk products.
5. Avoid fried food
6. Avoid alcohol until you are better and also smoking

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Regards
