What Causes Frequent Spotting Inspite Of Being On Nexplanon?
spotting is side effect of nexaplanon...explained
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query to healthcaremagic.com,
It is to be understood that as you have opted for a progesterone implant nexplanon, the hormone levels for progesterone take about 2-3 months to settle down and hence the woman may experience irregular spotting in the initial 2-3 months after the implant . But this usually subsides on its own and then she is usually symptom free.
The bleeding can be in the form of light serum blood mixed discharge and spotting in themed cycle. Usually non -foul smelling. But if there is a foul smell in the vaginal secretions then there is a likelihood that you may be suffering from a vaginal infection which needs to be evaluated by your physician with a per speculum exam and a high vaginal swab to rule out infection.
If the spotting is in excess then you may discuss teh option of using antifibrinolytics like tranexamic acid to stop the bleeding which can be used thrice a day for 3-5 days.
I hope i have answered your query in detail,
Wishing you good health,
Regards
