What Causes Frequent Urination After Finishing Dosage Of Cipro For UTI?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Dec 2015
Question: Hello, I am a 41 year old heterosexual male with prediabetes. I was prescribed cipro for 10 days for a UTI and I felt fine but within a week after completion the frequency to use the bathroom came back. The symptoms aren't as bad as before (burn is tolerable this time around) but I still use the bathroom quite often. I have no STD's nor does my partner.

Brief Answer:
Residual infection possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i advise you to have your urine routine and culture tests done.
There's a possibility of having residual infection.
As you're a pre-diabetic, kindly check your fasting blood sugar and HbA1C.
Also check creatinine.
If residual infection is seen, you may need to do an ultrasound scan of abdomen.
For now, continue the Cipro at half dose,250mg, at bedtime, till reports are ready.
Show reports to your doctor. You can also send the reports here.
Drink 10-12 glasses fluids daily.
Maintain good penile hygiene.
Wish you well.
