Brief Answer:
Enlarged prostate;diet changes;Kege's exercise to dominate urgency..

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

I understand your concern.

Let me recapitalize your case:
- 71 years old male
- symptoms: urgent urges to urinate, feeling lightheaded while urinating
- no UTI
- currently taking: Flowmax (that is a misspelling for Flomax=tamsulosin, an alpha blocker possibly used for enlarged prostate); Nplate (romiplostim possibly used to treat immune thrombocytopenia); Atenolol (beta-blocker to treat possible hypertension or any angina problems with your heart); Klonopin (clonazepam for possible insomnia).

Urgent urge to urinate is due to enlarged prostate, I believe you are also having the feeling of not emptying your bladder completely.

pH of the urine is also to consider especially if acidic although no UTI. I usually recommend my patients with the same problems as you to take antacids/urine antiseptics (like uva-ursi, cranberry, fern stone, etc) that will stabilize the pH of the urine diminishing the symptoms.

It's great that you consume a lot of water, however, I recommend to drink water throughout the day, and less at night.

Kegel's exercises are excellent to help with the muscles of your pelvic floor, so you'd be able to hold urine until you get a toilet. Urgent episodes will get less too.

Diet is also important in dominating the urgent episodes of urine. Caffeinated drinks, alcohol, or chilly/spicy foods, etc. increase the chances to get urgent episodes more frequently.

I believe all these are advice that your urologist/physician has given to you. When something wrong happens with our body/health, we focus in finding those factors that have contributed to their appearance.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further queries! I'd be happy to assist you further.
