What Causes Frequent Vomiting Followed By Hiccups In An Infant After Breast Feeding?

Secondly we had taken her for first visit to our family paedtrician and he said she has mild jaundice. He advised to take her in mild sunlight daily.
We are doing the same on regular basis. But how do we know that the jaundice is decreasing because the doctor has called us after one month.
Please advise on both the fronts.
proper burping is very important
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Congratulations on having a baby. The vomiting is occuring due to inadequate burping. The child ingests air along with the feeds and therefore needs to be placed on the lap in upright position for about 20 mins after each feed. This will also take care of the reflux that is causing the hiccups. The stomach contents regurgitate to the lower part of the food pipe and hence cause the problem. Proper burping will solve the problem.
Such problems are frequently seen in babies and are not a cause for concern. Let me remark that breast milk is the best possible feed for a baby and there can be no alternatives for the same. I would insist you to stick to it and to avoid bottle feeding. The production of breast milk is dependent on the hunger of the baby. Hungrier the baby, the more she will such and more the baby sucks, more is the breast milk produced.
The mild jaundice is normal too. The hemoglobin level of the fetus (before birth) is more than that of the mother's since oxygen has to be extracted from the mother's blood. This requirement no longer exists after birth and hence the excess hemoglobin gradually breaks down to form bilirubin which is responsible for the jaundice. It is normal and unless it is quite intense, it is not a cause for concern. Sunlight helps in making the pigment water soluble and helps in excretion though urine.
Let me know if I could help further.

I want to ask when can a person resume his sex life after pregnancy?
My wife is still having bleeding. She is using pads.
XXXX
It will be a few weeks before she is ready
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking back.
There is no definite period of restriction for sex life following delivery. It depends upon how fast your wife can be stable enough and comfortable enough to indulge in sex. The vaginal discharge will go on for several weeks although the frequency and amount will reduce while the color changes. If the delivery has been done by cesarean section, the scar region would be tender making it uncomfortable to have sex very soon. Even the regression of the size of the uterus will take a few weeks.
I hope you understand.

If I suck her nipples, is there any chance of bacterial/viral infection to pass onto baby when she feeds next time?
It should not cause a problem
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster.
If you suck on your wife's breasts and if she gets aroused, it is unlikely to cause any harm to her or the child. However, before she feeds the baby, she should clean her nipples and breast properly in order to avoid any chance for infection to the child.
About the taste of breast milk, I am not sure if you would find it tasty but that is perhaps the tastiest thing for your baby. All I can say is that it is not quite sweet and not quite bland either.
