Brief Answer:
Esophagitis most likely

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
I understand your concern.
You are most likely to be having esophagitis, an inflammation of the food pipe. This occurs mainly due to reflux of stomach acid into the esophagus. It is often associated with inflammation of the stomach also.
You need to be off spicy, acidic food, lime, orange, tomatoes, caffeinated beverages and fizzy drinks, smoking, alcohol and chocolates.
Have an early dinner and go to sleep with an empty stomach.
If possible, elevate the head end of your bed on 6 inch blocks which would prevent acid reflux to some exercise. Wear loose clothes and lose weight if you are overweight.
PPI and alginate also would help relieve the symptoms.

Yes

Alginate is like antacid but better.
If you can't get alginate, you can use antacid.
Life style changes I mentioned earlier are also very important.
