What Causes Genital Ulcer With Burning Sensation?
Question: I have a "female" question please. I am 45 yo....and have never experienced any sort of vaginal pain or burning....up until about 2 weeks ago. Almost immediately after my fiancée and I had pretty intense sexual intercourse....I started having a pretty moderate burning or "cutlike" pain....in the vaginal opening area or vaginal wall. I assumed that it was just because of the pretty intense sex we had. It eased up a few days later and then following our next session (a few days later)....I started having the same symptoms (except a bit worse). I tried to examine and I do see what appears to be several....flat....areas....that resemble ulcers that you would get in your mouth. Not on the labia or outside of vagina but more up into the vagina area. Could this be caused by just injury....from the sex?

I have attached a couple of photos but I could not possibly have gotten as ...sexually transmitted...because he is the only man I have slept with for years and he has no issue. Could it possibly ..have anything to do with my prolonged history of endometriosis and therefore ..excessive tampon use? Thank you so very much!
Brief Answer:
These are reactive aphtosis
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again!
These are non-sexually acquired genital ulceration or NSGU refers to painful ulcers in the genital area. It is classified into two types:
1. acute reactive aphthous ulceration
2. acute recurrent aphthous ulceration.
As the name suggests, NSGU is not due to sexually acquired STI or any other form of infection.
As you describe they are reactive aphtous from trauma of excessive use of tampons.
Treatment of your genital aphthous ulcers is;
Analgesia such as paracetamol, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories
Topical anaesthetic ointment or jelly
Topical corticosteroid ointment or paste
Do not use tampons
If they do not disappear or improve by this treatment you should contact your doctor for a detailed check up for SST ,Behçet disease or Crohn disease.

You are so great! I feel so much better than before! I was about to panic at the thought of some sort of STD!! : (
Where the pictures i sent you....enough for you to pretty much "rule out" herpes....or do I really need to have a test done? I am not asking you for absolute diagnosis ...just curious...if it was the appearance or location of the painful areas ...that changed your mind about the whole "STD" thing?
I promise that i will stop bothering you...; ). Thank you so very much!!

Brief Answer:
YES FROM LOCATION AND APPEARANCE
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear!
Im so glad to answer your questions.
Please dont worry for me.
YES,I DETERMINE YOUR VAGINAL LESION AS REACTIVE APHTOUS FROM APPEARANCE AND LOCATION OF ULCEROUS VAGINAL AREAS,because
aphthous ulcers are on the inner (mucosal) aspects of the vulva and adjacent skin. The centre of the ulcer is usually yellowish . There is a red rim aound the ulcer, which can vary in size from 1 mm to over 1 cm in diameter. They may be accompanied by considerable swelling.
