Severe Vaginal Pain. Ultrasound Report Showing Free Pelvic Fluid In The Ovary. Need Surgery? Myomectomy Done For Fibroids

I m having severe vaginal pain. I visited my GYN-OB and he requested and ultrasound. The report states that I have what is called free pelvic fluid mild-to-moderate in the left ovary . My uterus and adexa is otherwise unremarkable. I just had a mymectomy and 3 submucous fibroids out patient procedure 5 weeks ago. What can be done about the free fluid? Does it require surgery? etc.

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic.
From what you have described, its likely that its an ovarian cyst. Ovarian cyst could be functional or non functional. Functional cyst rarely are a problem and resolve on their own while non functional cysts may present with complications such as increased size, torsion, hemorrhage and cancerisation.
Functional cyst do not need surgery where as nonfunctional cyst due to the potential of complicating require surgery especially when their size is increased.
Pains resulting from ovarian cyst is at the level of the pelvis and on one side and not in the vagina.
I will advise you revisit your gyns for precision of the type of cyst, size and re-evaluation of the pain (location, intensity, associated signs etc) in order to have an appropriate management plan.
Best regards and hope this helps you.
