What Causes Green Colored Stools?

default
Posted on Thu, 25 Sep 2014
Question: I had a lithotripcy procedure 2 months ago. I still have small stones but they should pass as they are small. Now, from time to time i have lots of pain in the same side ( right ) and it may last a day or so and goes away for a few days and then comes back . Today i have the pain and i have played tennis and could this may have made it worse ? Also, for some reason i noticed green stool. Is there any relation ? My stomach feels bloaded too. No other symptoms. No fever, normal apetite , etc. My blood preasure has been a little high too.

Brief Answer:
IVP and antibiotic for green stool.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Nice to see you after 2 months again.

Green stools are suggestive of an intestinal infection and I think one should take a course of an antibiotic. Intestinal infection too can be a reason of pain and bloating in abdomen.

If the stones in the kidney are still there, try hydrotherapy, meaning plenty of water in one go, you may them take a tablet of lasix and continue on taking fluids. Since you have higher blood pressure, please do this after consultation with your Physician / Cardiologist telling Him/ Her about the previous history.

For the recurrent pain on the right side which stays for a day and then goes away, I would advise to have IVP (intravenous pyelography) o ascertain that there is no stricture or sequel of lithotripsy / sharp stones causing a problem.

What are the recent examinations you have done ?
