What Causes Greenish Loose Stool With Mucus In Children?

Question: Hello Doctor,

My 17 month son keep getting stomach infection every second month and thrice it was sevior. we keep him, his toys and his surrounding clean but not sure how and why he gets infected. he will pass green and loose stool with loads of mucus in it.

worried if his immune system is weak or ay problem with his digestive system. most of a time I have noticed that whatever food he eats the next day ill see the whole food in his stool. does it means he has any kidney problem. m scared please advice.

Thanks for writing to us.
Frequent loose stools is not common at this age.
Infection is possible but not always the reason for such frequent loose stools.
Check his stools for reducing substances.
If positive it indicates lactose intolerance or some kind of milk allergy.
If positive you may need to avoid milk and switch to lactose free formula like isomil.
Continue other medicines as advised. I don't think it is related to immunity or kidney disease

Thank you so much for your response.

I tired giving my son isomil, but no improvement instead I saw he was passing more stool. any test you can advice. because its become very regular and due to which is loosing weight and on top of that he has lost his apatite.
