Question: Hello Doctor,
I have groin pain; I have seen my family doctor and he has treated me for prostate infection I am on levoflaxcin 500mg. I have been feeling ill for the last month.
First symptoms were the following
1. Painful urination midway up my unary track
2. small red dot on the base of the penis
3. Flue like symptoms – NO FEVER
I was checked at our local hospital and tested for unary tract infection - came back negative
I was also checked for STD's - negative
Although I have not been tested for Herpes
Currently experiencing the following
1. Flu-like symptoms (Fatigue, sore throat, headache – aches and pains) but what I find odd is that I have NO FEVER
2. Loss of appetite
3. Lower back pain (in the spine)
4. Upper back pain (right side between spine and shoulder blade)
5. Right side arm and hand joint pain
6. Pain in the genital area
7. Lightheadedness
8. Decreased urine output
9. Small red dot on penal shaft – very painful if you compress it
10. Painful urination
11. General overall weakness – difficult to perform regular duties
12. penal shaft – dull pain throughout
If this is a prostate infection is there a test for that?

Yes, there are test for prostate infection. First of all, thorough physical examination is needed. Then, to examine the prostate gland, the physician will perform a digital rectal examination (DRE). This gives some idea. This examination may produce temporary pain or discomfort lasting seconds if there is prostate infection.
Urine examoination of initial stream, mid-stream after a prostate massage may also be helpful in diagnosing and also to identifying the specific organism causing it, so that appropriate antibiotic to treat it may be started.
