What Causes Hair Loss While On Toprol-XL?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jan 2017
Question: I am a 66 year old female experiencing hair loss. I am trying to figure out what the cause is. I am looking at side effects of RX that I currently am taking and just saw where Toprol XL 50mg can cause hair loss. My doctor has repeatedly denied that blood pressure meds can be the cause. What do you think? I would like to know if there is a med for blood pressure that doesn't have this side effect. XXXX YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
TOPROL XL does not cause hair loss

Detailed Answer:
Hello Madam

I can certainly understand your concern.

TOPROL XL is not associated with hair loss.

It's important that you screen yourself for other medications in your daily list that might cause hairloss.

Likewise, it's important to screen for thyroid issues and Anemia that may cause hairloss.

Therefore, I advise you to go for Complete Thyroid profile and Complete blood counts assessment.

Further management depends on test results.

Post your further questions if any.
Thank you.
