What Causes Hand Pain Before A Bowel Movement?

default
Posted on Fri, 21 Jul 2017
Question: I am a very well educated, responsible adult. This question seems bizarre, even to me! I frequently have pain in my hands before a bowel movement. Sometimes there is pain in my feet as well. The pain is relieved following the bowel movement. I also seem to have some symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome. Is it possible for nerve pain in the hands or feet to be associated with bowel movements? I know--really odd question.

Brief Answer:
Referred pain and spinal stenosis to consider.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

In my opinion, there are two main explanations of your issues:

1- referred pain ( pain that is projected from an organ to another )

2- cervical spinal cord stenosis ( during bowel movement there is an increase in cerebrospinal fluid pressure that may worsen stenosis symptoms ).

It doesn't seem to be related to carpal tunnel syndrome.

You should discuss and be checked by your Doctor about it.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Take care.
