What Causes Hand Tremors In An Elderly Person Post A Humerus Fracture Surgery?
Question: My mother 75 years had a humerus fracture 6 weeks. Had a surgical implant. Arm in sling as of now. Healing well. But recently observed tremors in the hand of the arm under discussion. Tremors are majorly in fingers and more or less continuous. Reduces on holding something. She was fine before the surgery. What could it be? Parkinsonism? Non diabetic. Moderate Systolic hypertensive. Pl advise.

The tremors only in the affected hand could be due to muscle wasting or mild nerve irritation due to the healing bone or fibrosis, anxiety, etc. Usually these tremors improve on their own as the bone heals. Do increase her fluid intake and see if her intake of electrolytes is adequate. You can discuss it with her orthopedician on the next visit.
