What Causes Hard Lump At The Base Of Scrotum?
Question: I have had a hard lump the size of a marble at the base of my scrotum for about a year now. Today I woke up and it is very sore and swollen, about double in size and not as hard as it used to be. I am in europe on vacation, making it difficult to see my doctor. Should I be concerned?
Brief Answer:
See a doctor urgently.
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
Well i can understand your concern.
As an Urologist, i must advise you to see a doctor urgently, as a painless swelling has become very sore and swollen, to double it's previous size.
This sudden change is usually due to inflammation or infection. This can be confirmed on examination of that lump by a doctor, and further treatment will be advised after that.
Hope your doubt is cleared. Enjoy your holiday in good health.
Wish you well.

I am in a small town in italy and cannot find a doctor in the area. There is a pharmacy though, what antibiotic should I get until I am able to see a doctor? Minocyclin?
Brief Answer:
see a qualified pharmacist.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Unless, i examine the swelling and get an idea of possible cause , it'll be difficult to advise you. If there's a pharmacist willing to give you a broad spectrum antibiotic, to which , you've no allergy, then take it from him/ her. till you see a doctor. But, don't delay your visit to the doctor.
