What Causes Hard Lump On Penis Shaft Near Base?

default
Posted on Wed, 17 Jun 2015
Question: a couple of weeks ago I noticed a hard lump on the underside of my penis shaft near the base. I assumed it was an ingrown hair but it has not gone away and has grown some. squeezing it does nothing and nothing comes out. I attached a pic but think it's somewhat inflamed or maybe infected from me messing with it. my own research has
me to think it is a sabaceous cyst.

Brief Answer:
This is a tiny sebaceous cysts...Stop messing with it!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this small lump that you have reported.. I have reviewed the image and all the information that you have reported. Please, this is a minor cysts and needs not be messed with. It is clearly red and swollen and this from your repeated manipulation. I recommend you stop doing so lest it gets infected and becomes a bigger problem.

Sebaceous cyst do not disappear overnight and owe no threat to health. Allow them and they would regress progressively over time. This is not suggestive of any infection and any STD.

In all, allow it to heal spontaneously. Resolution is slow and progressive. Messing with it all the times makes healing difficult and hard to come by. Avoid doing so.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

would any prescription medication, such as antibiotics, speed up the healing process?

Brief Answer:
Not necessary at this time!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

No drug is needed at this time. It would be like killing an ant with a trailer. Simple avoid touching and all would return to normal. Unless you notice further spreading of the area of redness, there is no reason to get worried.

I hope this helps. Let me know if this is something you would be considering.
