Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
This could be infection of ear canal and area in front . The lump you are noticing could be a lymph node. This is not related to sinuses.
I recommend the following.
1) A course of antibiotics.
2) Analgesic like tablet paracetamol for pain relief.
3) Icthamolglycerine ear pack to reduce edema of ear canal to prevent narrowing.
You will be fine.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.

could this be due to a i?nfected root canal on the same side of my face?
Brief Answer:
Highly unlikely.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow up.
The infected root canal could cause ear pain. This due to referred pain. This highly unlikely to cause the ear canal infection. Chances are there if upper jaw tooth are infected.
However the infected root canal needs antibiotics and dentist intervention.
I suggest you to follow my recommendation given earlier.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
Take care
