What Causes Head Cold, Sore Throat And Cough With Green Phlegm Throat Mucus?

Question: I am male, 61, generally very healthy. I have what I think is a head cold, runny nose, slight sore throat, heavy green flem that I cough up in the morning. Is this a virus that I should just wait out? No fever.
Brief Answer:
viral flu with secondary bacterial infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query. In my opinion, you might be having viral flu with secondary bacterial infection. If I were your treating doctor, I would have prescribed penicillin antibiotics + anti inflammatory medicines and antihistamines. But these are prescription medicines, so consult with the doctor and get evaluated. Emperically you can take anti inflammatory medicines like paracetamol 500 mg + diclofenac 50 mg combination drugs twice daily for 5 days + anti histamine + decongestant tablet twice daily for 5 days .Steam inhalation daily twice may be helpful. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
