What Causes Headache, Excessive Sleepiness And Swelling In The Body?
Question: My mom was hospitalized last Saturday evening because of severe sleepiness and the speech is not clear. We taught it was stroke, she has high blood pressure. She was maintaining medicine for this. Prior to what happened she ran out of medicine. Last Friday evening, she had headache which she usually suffered. We always thought it was high blood pressure. On Saturday morning, she had this severe sleepiness. She was brought to a clinic and the doctor said only weakness and was given dextrose. She was observed but still sleeping and had been sleeping for 9hours so we brought her to the hospital. The doctor gave her citicoline and nebivolol. CT scan is OK, no serious problems on all tests. She had a quick recovery. Tuesday, Monday she was released from the hospital. However, while in the hospital, body swelled. The doctor gave her clopidorel and levocetirizine for allegy. Yet now still swelling. We brought her to the hospital, the immunologist and allergist said, not because of the drugs, go to the dermatologist she said. The dermatologist said exposure to sunlight. What is your opinion doctor? Please help.

According to the history you provide if she were my patient i would recommend her to do the following tests too:
Cardiac ultrasound plus ECG
Albuminemia
Electrolytes
Uremia and Creatinemia
Sometimes heart or renal problems may be the cause of swelling in patients in older age like your mother is.
If they come positive than the cardiologist will prescribe for her diuretics (as needed)
Please discuss with her treating doctor for the above
