What Causes Headache, Shortness Of Breath And Hypertension?
Question: If high blood pressure is left untreated from one to three years is it definite to lead to heart disease or heart failure? I'm looking for facts, for definite risks, not possibilities. I've had high blood pressure three years ranging daily from 158/110 to 217/138. I have headaches most days, shortness of breath at times when walking short distances, light house work & sex. I also am over weight, I'm 5'2 weighing 198. Adopted so don't have family medical history. I haven't received treatment due to no health insurance, was seen in ER three years ago & was given meds through IV to lower my bp & discharged with instructions to seek a primary Doctor. Since that time I purchased a blood pressure cuff to monitor my bp at home & have logged my numbers daily, for the past two and half weeks my bp hasn't been lower than 190/119 which has now caused me some fright & concern. So, again I'm asking, is it certain that untreated hypertension will lead to heart disease or failure ?
I appreciate your time in answering my question.
