What Causes Headaches, Body Aches And Frequent Urination After Taking Steroids For Sinusitis?

Question: Hi, last month I got a decadron shot for sinus. It helped a little so I got a medrol dose pack. Felt bad on both drugs. Started pack on XXXXXXX 17th. After weaning off I still feel bad, constant headaches, stomach aches, no appetite, and worst thing is body aches like flu, no flu. Body aches are scaring me cause I never had it before these meds. What is going on? Tired too. Back hurts the worst.

Also swollen belly, night sweats, just crappy!

Increased urination

Some nausea, anxiety

You have taken short acting and long acting steroids for your sinusitis. Steroids reduce immunity, the long acting one is still in your system--it lasts up to a fortnight---so you are having flu like and urinary symptoms.
I am going to suggest the following--

You need Omeprazole/pantoprezole with domperidone combination.
You need a broad spectrum antibiotic like Doxycycline.
You should take steam inhalation with Eucalyptus oil/Vicks for your sinusitis.
Take Paracetamol/Tylenol for bodyache, fever.
You should get a routine blood and urine test done.

You need to discuss this with your doctor--

Even though it has been a month off the med? Can it take longer than 2 weeks to get out of system?

Hi the residual effect will be there now. It has probably set off infection in the body that needs to be handled now. You should be fine after an appropriate course of antibiotics.

Why would I still be having night sweats?? Increased anxiety?

Night sweats may be due to urinary or other infections. I do not think it is anxiety. Do you measure your temperature during the episodes?
