What Causes Heart Burn And Throat Pain After Having Hot Fluid?
It is possible but it should heal quickly.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
It is possible that the esophageal mucosa might have been injured by the hot liquid. But with a history of heart burn there is the possibility of acid injury to the esophagus also.
Its good you are feeling better. I would suggest that you start some acid decreasing medicines. I usually prescribe my patients Tab Pantoprazole or Omeprazole twice daily half an hour before meals. This should be continued for at least a month.
If the pain recurs then you should see your Doctor who might advice an Upper GI Endoscopy to see the esophageal mucosa.
You are doing well to avoid all hot liquids. Continue to do that and avoid all agents that might irritate the esophagus like spices, etc.
Take care and do let us know if you have any other queries.

Yes. It would heal.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX
The acid injury is likely to heal with acid suppression. That is the gold standard treatment for Gastro esophageal reflux disease.
But what damage has been done and the extent of damage can only be assessed by the Endoscopy.
Healing would take place naturally by repair of mucosal lining and it takes a few weeks to complete.
