What Causes Heart Palpitations After Using Flonase?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Hi, I am 35 and I am in pretty good health (I eat decently and exercise 3-4 times per week. I have not been exercising as regularly during the last 2 weeks (holiday break). I have been having missed heartbeats for a couple months and they seem to be getting worse. I also wake up with a racing heart and a shaky feeling. I have given up caffeine, wore a 48 hr heart rate monitor, and have seen my doctor a few times. I do not drink or do drugs. The only meds I take are a nasal spray for allergies. Any idea what's going on? I worry about it constantly which I'm sure makes it worse!
Brief Answer:
Please let me know the name of the nasal spray.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. The first thing that I would like to assure you is that we can often get missed beats and that is not really a cause for concern. But the waking up with a racing heart concerns me. I would request you to confirm the name of the nasal spray that you use. I would also need to ask you whether you are taking them routinely or just when needed. Bronchodilators like salbutamol can give rise to an elevated heart rate.
I would await your response. Based on your inputs I could tell you if you possibly require a 24 hours Holter ECG monitoring to be done.
Regards

Hi, I use Flonase (otc for allergies). I use it daily because my doctor said it only works after having been in my system for 6 days. I have had an ekg, which was normal and am going in on Tuesday to get the results from the 48 hour monitor I had on last week.
Brief Answer:
Let me know after you get the report
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the update.
Flonase will not cause any problems. Let me know after you get the report for the 48 hours monitoring.
