What Causes Heart Palpitations In The Morning After A Night Of Drinking?

Not to worry about
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Health Care Magic and thank you for your question. I understand your concern.
These are normal phenomena of response to alcohol intake. It is not that it happens to anybody, but everybody has the probability of developing extrasystoles ("skipped" heart beats), racing heart rate etc. This is because alcohol can affect the heart rate via various mechanisms. It raises serotonin levels, which acts directly on the heart muscle and its electrical system. It also can act directly on the natural pacemaker of the heart (sinus node) by producing fast heart rate. Also, the excessive stomach fluid (which is highly acid) produced by alcohol, can return in small or large amounts to the oesophagus. Due to proximity of the oesophagus with the heart, this irritating fluid can also provoke extrasystoles. Whatever the cause, these are benign phenomena and I would recommend you not to worry about them. However, I would recommend you to restrict amounts of alcohol intake to two beers or a glass of wine or a shot of heavy drinks a day (these amounts are seen not to be harmful and, in some cases, even beneficial).
I hope this was helpful. I am here to help, if you have follow-up questions. Please rate the answer, if you do not.
Kind regards,
Dr. Meriton
