Brief Answer:
Quitting smoking can worsen heartburn for a short while

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Quitting smoking can sometimes worsen or trigger Gastroesophageal reflux disease (heartburn) for a short while in some individuals. It occurs due to reflux of atomach acid into the esophagus. This will subside in 1-2 months. Continue Tums. You can also use Pantoprazole 20 mg in the morning before breakfast for next 2 months to help with the heartburn.
The elbow pain is likely unrelated to quitting smoking. Strenuous activity, trauma etc can trigger elbow pain. You can apply ice over the area of pain and Bengay ointment.
Use Tylenol if the pain is bothersome. Avoid Advil/ aleve as it can worsen heartburn.
