What Causes Heartburn While Treating Distal Esophageal Cancer?

default
Posted on Fri, 7 Apr 2017
Question: I was treated for distal esophageal cancer. Received chemo and radiation. Two month followup with endoscopy and biopsy showed no cancer seen. Now 3 months later I have heartburn and a feeling of fullness in the distal esophagus. Is this a stricture, esophagitis or what?

Brief Answer:
Hello.it can be anything

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. I have gone through the details. So post treatment heartburn can be due to various causes. Like, reflux esophagitis, some form viral or fungal infections, of post radiation edophagitis. Chances of tumor recurrence are also there. You require again an endoscopy and probably a ct scan as well for complete evaluation. Stricture seems distant possibility if last endoscopy was normal. Please share the reports once available. Thanks and regards
