What Causes Heavy Continuous Vaginal Bleeding After Menopause?
Question: My mom is 55 years old. Before six months bleeding got stopped so we thought it to be menopause bt now bfre1 month she got continuous bleeding and we took her to hospital. They gave tablets and it got stopped. They also gave tablets for another 1 month and told to take some test.In that it was found that the endometrium thickness is 6 mm and they told to take biopsy.i am getting so scared. Is that necessary to take biopsy now?Is there some other choice?please suggest
Brief Answer:
Go ahead with biopsy
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM. I have gone through the question and understand your concerns.
No need to worry about endometrial biopsy. It is a simple procedure not associated with much pain.
Ideally all post menopausal women with vaginal bleed should be screened for endometrial cancer especially if endometrial thickness is more than 4 mm.
But don't worry the chance of endometrial cancer with your mothers ultrasound finding is around 5-7 % only.
So go ahead with the procedure and that will clear your concerns.
Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further queries I will be happy to help you

will it be only the primary stage?
Brief Answer:
Depends on the biopsy reports
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Don't worry. Endometrial cancer is a rare cause of bleeding after menopause. So let the biopsy report come.
Endometrial cancer is treatable in stages when it is confined to uterus. It her case it should be early stages.

Brief Answer:
It is expected biopsy reports
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Proliferative endometrium is the normal proliferation or thickening of endometrium with hormonal influence.
After menopause the sex hormones will be present in a body for few more months at reduced amounts. This sex hormones will cause proliferation of endometrium and this will shed off as bleeding.
So no need to worry.
