Brief Answer:
You may have thalassemia trait with iron deficiency anemia.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You have thalassemia trait so your hemoglobin will remains slightly below average. That can not be treated.

But You have heavy bleeding and that leads to further fall in hemoglobin due to blood loss.

You need to take iron and vitamin B12 supplements to maintain hemoglobin.

Moreover you need treatment for heavy bleeding. Because once you heavy bleeding is cured, your hemoglobin will automatically improved.

Check your serum iron, serum ferritin, TIBC and vitamin B12 levels and take supplements accordingly. And consult your gynecologist and take treatment of bleeding.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

Brief Answer:
Your hemoglobin is quite good.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

Your hemoglobin level is quite good for thalassemia trait individuals. In general hemoglobin will remains in between 10-12 in thalassemia trait. We can not increase it further by any mean and it is considered OK.

Just consult your gynecologist and take treatment of your heavy bleeding. Don't worry about your hemoglobin and other parameters.

Brief Answer:
You may have mild iron deficiency or may not have.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You may have iron deficiency or may not have. That cannot said exactly by complete blood count. For confirmation you should go for serum iron, ferritin and TIBC level.

But one thing is sure that your symptoms are not due to iron deficiency. Because your hemoglobin level is more then 10 and it is not likely to cause your symptoms.

Brief Answer:
You should go for serum iron & ferritin level.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

You should go for serum iron and ferritin levels.
If these levels are low then only iron supplements treatment will be effective. If these are normal or high then it is not effective.

In thalassemia patients hemoglobin can not be increased up to normal range by any mean. Slight low hemoglobin will be acceptable.

Treatment of blood loss and iron supplements are the only options.

Even if all the treatments your hemoglobin levels will remains low due to thalassemia trait and no treatment will help in that.

You should also take folic acid supplements for thalassemia trait.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me. I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
