What Causes Heavy Menstruation With Foul Smell While Having Mirena Coil?
Question: Hi I have the XXXXXXX coil for 2 years now, I didn't have any periods but the last two months I have had heavy periods in my cycle, at the beginning of the period the stuff that comes out is very smelly to the extent that if I don't know its coming ppl around me think I have wind, it's so embarrassing??

Having heavy periods with foul smell while you have Mirena coil inserted ,no more than two years may be an infection .
But please tell me some detail:
How many pads did you change in a day,while you are on periods?
How many days did your bleeding extend ?
Have abdominal cramps or pain ,being or not on your periods ?

Well to say it's a heavy period, it is for me this is my third coil and usually I just get spotting now and again but this one I have just been using tissue in my knickers and it's usually just a bit soiled but v smelly, it last for 7 -8 days starts bright red then goes brown, I get ibs so have tummy pain sometimes

Heavy periods while you are on Mirena, may be a side effect of it .
