What Causes Heavy Period Along With Nausea?
I am 35 year old. Have 2 children. My period started week late and it was heavy flow for second day. For almost a week I have nausea and on the 4th day of nausea my period started. I went to ER because it is very unusual for me to have nausea for such a long time and it bothers me a lot. They found nothing, blood test shows I am not pregnant. But still I have nausea. What can be reason?
IT is probably premenstrual syndrome..explained

hello,
Thanks for contacting healthcare magic
If the pregnancy is ruled out then the cause of nausea can be associated with premenstrual syndrome . PMS may mimic symptoms of pregnancy which may include from tender breasts to mood swings, nausea, headaches, increased frequency of urination and sometimes even vomiting. these are effects of progesterone withdrawl and usually starts few days before menses and subside when the menses end.
So it is suggested that you wait for your menses to subside and if the nausea still continues or if presently it is still bothering you a lot then you may take ..TAB METOCLOPROMIDE 10mg stat dose. This would help you control it.

And I just have nausea. Today is the 3rd day of my period and it is light now, like my first day was. But yesterday it was very heavy - and this is unusual for me! Now it looks like close to end of the period. Usually period is 5 days.
I never had nausea before with my period. So is this means, that all my next periods I will have PMS?
you may not..its stress dependent..explained
Detailed Answer:
thanks for the query.
well generally during the menstruation , 1st day generally there is light bleeding and the flow generally increases on 2nd and 3r day and then it diminishes gradually. So the pattern of flow which you exhibited was normal. So no major concern of worry.
PMS is governed by many factors but most important are the emotional and psychological stress factors experienced by the lady during that cycle which can cause hormonal imbalance and may cause increased progesterone in the last week of cycle which presents with increased nausea and when after menses the levels reduce the nausea wears off.
So it is not necessary that you may have PMS but it depends on your emotional and psychological state during the cycle.Avoid stressors ( though easy to say) as much as you can for a healthy cycle .
