What Causes High Potassium Levels?
Question: I was informed that I have High Potassium. Not sure what this is. What causes it and what effects it may have.

I understand your concern.
High Pottasium levels (Hyperkalemia) is most commonly due to following reasons:
1. Hemolyzed sample due to faulty technique of collection and proceeding.
2. Kidney Problems.
I would advise you to get Kidney Function Tests and a repeat serum Pottasium test done.
If this is very high this is dangerous as can cause cardiac arrhythmias and heart block.
It should be treated immediately.
