Question: My son has the following symptoms: high white blood cell count, swollen lymph node in throat, sore neck, slight fever of mid-99's, headache. He also has weakness in legs and arms. He was told there was a virus the week after new years. Seemed to get better. Now back at school and it's come back. He is a D1 waterpolo player so he is fit. Workouts are tough right now for him to the point where he cant participate. This came on again over the weekend.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have reviewed the information provided and this is suggestive of a possible infection with mononucleosis. This is otherwise termed a kissing disease and you should ask your soon about this. Infectious mononucleosis is a viral infection and treat is mainly bed rest, managing pain and avoiding contact sport. To confirm this and treat accordingly, I will suggest that h eggiest tested for this condition.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
