What Causes High Blood Pressure?

default
Posted on Fri, 4 Apr 2014
Question: Had pulmonary embolism in July. Heart rate and BP normal. Took Xarelto 6 months. Released from physician with no symptoms. Now, have high blood pressure (140/90) which I never had before. Also, have high heart rate (about 110). Trying to figure out if there is a link and what I should do. I do drink coffee and alcohol daily, but it seems coincidental that this situation started at the end of my Xarelto treatment.

Brief Answer: NOT related / Follow & Treat Detailed Answer: Dear friend, Welcome to Health Care Magic There is NO relation between the two Recent event might simply have drawn attention and frequent check up Hypertension is mostly asymptomatic Cut down the coffee / avoid alcohol Check the pressure frequently / if at this level or tends to go up – start treatment Generally ACEI (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme Inhibitor) or ARB (Angiotensin Receptor Blocker) or CCB (Calcium Channel Blocker) is started The treating doctor can suggest further based on his assessment of the situation. Take care Wishing all well God bless
