HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
There are different possible reason for
high blood pressure. If your blood pressure is usually within normal range (the top value less than 130 AND the bottom value less than 80), then the most likely cause would be conscious or subs-conscious stress related to the procedure. Any other stress in a persons life can also cause increase in blood pressure values.
There is a type of hypertension called white coat hypertension where a person's blood pressure goes up when they visit their doctor. This normally refers to visits to their general doctor but can occur with any type of medical visit such as a
dentist.
You would need to check your blood pressure in the coming 1 to 2 weeks to see if it remains elevated. If it normalises to the values given - good.
If not then it is possible that you have hypertension. In most persons with hypertension no specific cause can be found- they have what is called
essential hypertension.
Blood pressure rises as persons age and there may also be some hereditary component.
In others there is another cause for the high blood pressure such as
hormonal problems ,
kidney disease, neurological conditions.
If the pressure remains high when you recheck in the next week to 2 weeks , then you need to consider visiting your doctor for an evaluation. He or she would confirm that it is high and , depending on the value, possibly suggest medication.
