What Causes High Blood Sugar And Redness In Eyes?
Question: My brother-in law age 46 years, he is having high blood sugar in the range of 500 plus from past couple of years. he is taking insulin regularly and his eyes are red most of the times, How to cure him can you suggest some medicine
Brief Answer:
Suggest admission
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal
I have read your query
And I think that with those kinds of sugar levels, he should definitely get admitted because there is a high chance of him being at a risk of diabetic ketoacidosis.
I would suggest testing urine ketones in a patient I was treating and also regular blood sugar monitoring and stepping up the insulin doses accordingly
Best of luck

getting admitted and treatment is not solving the issue. he again gets the same Sugar level , i would like to know permanent treatment any specific tablets can you suggest which will keep the sugar level in control for Sugar level of 500
Brief Answer:
2 possible problems
Detailed Answer:
if he gets admitted and the sugar levels come back to normal, and then they rise up again when he is discharged, there are only a few conclusions
1. his diet is not correct. maybe he starts consuming too many calories after discharge
2. something wrong with the insulin he takes- either he does not take on time, doesnt administer correctly, does not store it properly (insulin has to be refrigerated), does not take adeuquate dose.
at sugar levels above 500, few tablets are going to help if at all.
and to suggest those I need to know the other reports and issues- kft, neuropathy status, retinopathy status, urine for microalbuminuria
