What Causes High Platelet Count Post Fresh Frozen Plasma Administration?
Question: In July I had 4 units of FFP administered to counteract warfarin due to a possible cerebral Hemerorage (SP?)
I now have a high platelet count (600). Is there any relationship?

Brief Answer:
No any direct relationship.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You have taken FFP in july. It has no relation with your current platelet count.
Your current platelet count is slightly high. It may be due reactive thrombocytosis.
There are many causes for that. Bleeding or anemia or infection can also leads to increase in platelet count. Its not a serious problem. No need to worry about that. Just go for repeat platelet count after a week.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.

Thank you for your reassuring answer. I have been scheduled by my family doctor to see a hematologist/oncologist the end of December. It was the oncologist part of the referral that frightened me. Should I ask my family doctor for a follow up lab test order before that appointment? And, how do I explain to her that I would like the test repeated? Thanks again for your response.
Brief Answer:
You should go for repeat test.

You should go for repeat test. Because in the most of cases of reactive thrombocytosis, platelet count come back to normal within few days.
So just repeat once after one to two week. Send me your report of complete blood count. If needed then only need to consult oncologist otherwise no need to worry. You can go for complete blood count without any prescription.
So just be relaxed. Send me your report after a week. I will guide you.
