What Causes Higher Head Temperature And Excessive Sweating In A Child?
Question: hello doctor, my 9 month olds head is always hotter than rest of his body also he sweats a lot in that portion m is this normal?
Brief Answer:
Its normal
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I completely understand your concerns but don't worry. Many babies have head temperature slightly higher with a normal body temperature and also sweat excessively. But its perfectly normal in most cases. It occurs due to immature hypothalamic temperature regulation which gradually improves by 3-5 years of age.
You should be concerned about this only if the baby's general condition is unwell, has poor appetite, body temperature more than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, is not gaining weight or has any other symptoms.
Hopefully this will help you. I would be happy to help you in any further questions.
Take care
