Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your information.
Read and understood your concerns.

To recapitulate: *Female/*33 - visited a Doctor and under the treatment as I can get from other questions (Current Medications: *Mirtazapine, Duloxetine, Propranolol, Ranitidine, Codiene, Anti diarrhea) and have history of *Spina bifida and *hydrocephalus - diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and dependent personality disorder - you have noticed that it is difficult for you to show love/care/disappointment/that you are pleased. Also have problem to show that you are sorry for something that has happened to someone you care about, you can't however much you want to.

After going through your medical history of hydrocephalus and spina bifida and the medications are your taking, I have a feeling that you need to be worked upon these primary causes and well investigated by MRI of the brain, spinal fluid analysis (if hydrocephalus allows), EEG (Electroencephalogram) and tests of blood and urine (particularly serum electrolytes as reduced sodium in the blood can enhance your problems that you have mentioned about.

It is possible that a primary cause is found and treated to give relief from all the symptoms that you have mentioned above.

Secondly you are under the treatment with anti-depressants and other medicines which can have negative effects on your personality. These medicines alter the equilibrium with which the thinks, has psychotropic effects and directly work on the brain chemicals.
It is very important to know whether one/you really need them or not.

Low serum sodium can have effects on the brain changing the personality and have adverse effects hence should be checked regularly.

Lastly, it all depends upon the past of a person. Every one has a different past, he/she only knows what has happened that has changed the personality. I am sure that there was one time when you were not like the one which you are today. Try to remember what incidences changed your personality and was it really worth that you are unnecessarily might be suffering from.

Many a times a proper counseling by a Psychologist, a friend or a family member helps to cope up with the situation more than any of the medicines you are taking as these are inanimate things helping to cope up. A proper interaction with the people around, in family or in friends or in social groups and gatherings have better impact and even a small thing, a thought or incidence can change your personality to be normal and socially acceptable.

Please go through this discussion and you may find the reasons, many of which may be changeable and adaptable helping you to come out of the present problem.
An opinion of a Neurologist may be more useful than a Psychiatrist.

Think over what I have put on and please give me feedback so that we can discuss further to achieve a goal to have a normal life, may be without the psychotrophic medicines.

Awaiting for your feedback.
