What Causes Increase In Beta HCG Levels And Lack Of Fetal Heartbeat?
Question: I'm 36 with no children and this is my third pregnancy I miscarried my first at 4w5d October 2013, The ectopic pregnancy March 4, 2014 6w5d I felt pressure in the very beginning so I knew something was wrong. I recently found out was pregnant and given the due date of October 10 2015 which today will make me 6w1d My beta levels are slowly rising. My first was 310 two days later 480 3 days later jumped to 1700 and yesterday 2800. Just had my third ultrasound at six weeks and still no signs of baby Fallopian tube clear. The hospital told me they do not check your progesterone levels at all so I don't even know if it's low. My follow up is tomorrow Monday to repeat bloodwork and ultrasound if it's still the same they would like to take a uterus sample which means I would be terminating my pregnancy which is something I don't want!! Urg, I'm so at a loss right now!! Has anyone experienced this before.. Beta levels rising no baby at six weeks? I have had no pain, no cramps just normal pregnancy issues and slight bleeding after each ultrasounds. Could I have implanted late? I don't want to give up hope!
Brief Answer:
Dont take uterine sample.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
I read your query and I understand your concerns.
Following is my reply:
1) It is possible that You have delayed implantation. Infact it is the only possibility to hope its a viable pregnancy.
2) I strongly advice against taking taking uterine sample at this stage. Even if nothing is seen intrauterine, i advice you wait another 2 weeks and then get the sample done to check for chromosomal abnormalities.
3) Dont give up hope till beta hCG levels are done.
I hope I answered your query. I will be available for any follow up query you have.

Hi. I went in for a follow up on blood work yesterday. Just recieved call from hospital my beta levels didnt raise enough went from 2800 to 3200 and they would have liked it be 3900. They want to treat me as ectopic pregnancy and give me a methotrexate shot. Should I go through with this treatment? Thanks for your help
Brief Answer:
Ultrasound scan required
Detailed Answer:
Hello
I don't agree with this.
Please get ultrasound scan done first. If gestational sac is visible then don't take methotrexate.
Though beta hCG rise is slow it does not mean ectopic pregnancy.
Please request for an ultrasound scan.
